How to re-seal a bath
Fresh silicone fixes mouldy bathrooms in an hour — if you take the old stuff off properly first.
1. Remove every trace of the old silicone
Use a Stanley knife and silicone remover gel. New silicone won't bond to old — this is where most jobs fail.
2. Fill the bath with water
A full bath drops by ~10mm. Sealing while empty creates a gap that breaks every time someone gets in.
3. Mask, gun, smooth, peel
Tape both sides ~3mm off the join, gun a steady bead, smooth with a sealant tool or wet finger, then immediately peel the tape.
